Amanda Bossard was just out high school when she began her studies in marine biology at Alaska PacificUniversity in Anchorage. Bossard started her career as a commercial seafood expert at the age of 1999, after she began working on board the F/V Sunset 65' halibut-schooner, which has become a salmon tender for Murat Aritan. She has been an commercial fisherman from 1993. Bossard and Aritan are married now and are working together to stake their claim to their respective industries. The two are proponents of preserving sustainable and renewable seafood resources. In 2007, the mother of two young children Bella age three and Andre 1 Bossard and then relocating back to live in Philadelphia, opened a direct market wholesale seafood distributor known as Otolith. She and her husband are separated by five months, and she is able to focus on her financial goals and the environment. Bossard as well as Isabella and Andre (ages 12, 10 respectively) Return each year from July to August in Southeast Alaska for the summer harvest from wild salmon. After two months of fishing using hooks along with lines as well as a 42-foot salmon troller they joined Aritan and then sold local processors of seafood.
